For the fourth time this year, NRG Media is selling off a group of its stations. This time around, all five of its outlets in Central Nebraska are being transferred to Nebraska-based Usher Media. The deal sends talk KGFW (1340 AM, and translator K241CN at 96.1 FM), CHR “Hits 106” KQKY, and country “Y102” KRNY – all in Kearney, classic rock KROR (101.5) Hastings, and adult hits “107.7 The Island” KSYZ Grand Island, to Usher. Sale prices have not been disclosed.
NRG, which is based in Iowa, continues to own and operate stations in Omaha and Lincoln, NE, as well as stations in Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin. In July of this year, NRG sold Spanish “La Nueva” KMMQ (1020 AM and translator K258DC at 99.5 FM) in the Omaha-Council Bluffs, NE-IA market to Munoz Media, following a $950,000 deal in May sending its “River Country 101.7” WRCV, AC “Sky 95.7” WSEY and adult standards WIXN (1460 AM, and translator W23DM at 95.1 FM) in Dixon, IL to Shaw Media, and the 500,000 sale in 2024 of soft AC “Full Service 100.1” WJBD and classic country WSIQ (1350 AM, and translator W221DU at 92.1 FM) in Salem, IL to South Central Illinois Multimedia.
